Brett Gaylor 01/07/13
We continue our month of exploring interactivity as a “story disruptor”. Web platforms are emerging that now make it possible to remix videos and add layers of context, effectively extending post-production indefinitely. How does this effect ways we edit and tell stories?
Our 2nd interactive Vine Vid, is another excerpt from the interview I and editor Joe Botana (@zbutcher) had with Brett Gaylor, documentary filmmaker and director of Mozilla’s Popcorn.js project. In this short clip, Brett talks about the difference between Popcorn.js and Popcorn Maker, gives an example of a Popcorn video and makes the case for iteration and experimentation.
Keep in mind that you can click on the screen when prompted and you’ll be hyperlinked to that page (except in Safari).
In our 1st Vine Vid, Brett talks about his background as a documentarian, his frustrations with the limitations of early Web distribution and how he convinced an Internet titan to care about the future of filmmaking.
