Broom however, is another worthy entrant in the space war. Created by Rocky Sand Studio, Broom does 2 key things:
- Alerts you when your disk space is running low
- Helps you to quickly pick and choose what needs to be cleaned up
Broom works in either standalone or menubar mode. In the the latter mode, all it takes is a click on the Broom icon to show you how much space you’ve got left on your hard drive.

Not only will notifications alert you when you’re running low, the app will also give you the ability to find and delete the biggest offenders immediately.
You always want to make sure have at least 15% of free space on your boot drive to make sure your Mac runs smoothly.
By having an app that alerts you when you get to that threshold, you’ll never again find yourself in a situation where you have to scramble to delete or move video files offline just to keep working.
Free your drive and your mind will follow.
