Catalogue the entire contents of your edit suite 04/06/11
Use the Allstate Digital Locker iPhone App to keep track of the entire contents of your edit suite including your software.
If your studio is ever burglarized or a natural disaster happens you will have complete and up to date documentation. With this app you can store descriptions, pictures, and other priceless documentation (preferably to the Cloud).
I would suggest before opening Digital Locker do a Google Image search of all of the products that you own. Then save those pictures to your photo library. For example, if you own an Intuous4, these are the kinds of results you would find. Select the image in the top left corner.
Press and hold on the image.
You will be prompted to Save Image or to Copy the image. Press Save Image and the photo will be saved to your mobile device’s photo library.
Download and install Digital Locker from the app store.
You will be prompted to enter a passcode. After creating a passcode using the Password Algorithm hack press Create.
You will be taken to the home screen. Press Edit to create a profile.
Fill in the information.
Once you’ve entered your info, press Done. Back in the main menu
press the Add Items tab.
Enter info about what your hardware or software.
Here’s an example of what this would look liked filled out with info.
You can also add a thumbnail image of what the product looks like by pressing Add Photo.
Here is where you will select Choose Existing Photo from the photos you saved from Google Images.
Now you have a thumbnail image associated with your item.
Once you have all of your items cataloged, your inventory will be complete.
Now, you’ll want to export the database. To do this press the Email tab in the top right corner.
Enter the email address of where you want to send the database info. (Note: E-mail messages may be subject to viewing, alteration, and copying. Transmitting information via e-mail over the Internet is never completely secure and thus any information submitted could possible be intercepted, collected, used or disclosed by others).
You will get an email that will have your inventory information in the body section.
Highlight all of this information. Press CMND + C.
DELETE the email. EMPTY the deleted emails folder.
Open the Evernote desktop app. Create a new note called:
Edit suite inventory as of (current date).
Press CMND + V to paste the information into this new note.
Highlight all of this information.
Right + Click. At the bottom of this dialogue you will be given the option to encrypt this selected information.
Type an encryption pass-phrase based on your unique password algorithm. (Note: Ignore the Hint message. This is just Evernote trying giving you a passphrase suggestion). Click OK.
Now your edit suite inventory table is encrypted.
Tips: Be sure to update your digital locker every time you get new hardware or software.
You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
