Post Haste 07/29/12

Create customized folder structures with Post Haste to get your projects off to a running start.

One of the biggest roadblocks to an efficient video project workflow is consistency.

There may be thorough naming convention and project organization guidelines at your studio, but they’re no use if they’re not consistently used.

Think of Post Haste by Digital Rebellion as a protocol lubricant.

You’re able to create and modify customized folder structures to enforce common naming conventions and folder hierarchies.

Let’s say you’re doing the product video for Building Block Pictures.  With Post Haste, filename parameters can be:

  • client
  • project number
  • project name
  • date
  • editor

So the general file naming convention for this video would be:

  • 0012_Perfect Sport_2011-09_Jon

The project created by Post Haste will look like this:

Other cool features:

  • Shared environment support.  Set the template location on each computer to a shared storage area and assign a default template for each department.
  • You can place variables in filenames inside your template and Post Haste will automatically replace these variables with the values you specify in the Project pane.
  • The ability to assign global hotkeys

With this app being cross-platform and absolutely FREE there’s no reason not to try it out today.
