Take Flickr to the next level.  Start using it as a searchable, taggable and sharable database.  Sure it’s not as sexy as your Tahoe pictures, but they’ll be interesting year ’round.

Dial in the settings for the software you want to capture.

Press Command + Shift + 4.  The pointer will turn into a:

Press the spacebar.  The pointer will turn into a:

To take the picture, click on the interface.

Rename the file using a naming convention.  One example might be:

  • software name / menu type / screen name

so this would translate into:

  • final cut pro / exports / video settings

which would be shortened into:

FCP_EXP_V_1

Log on to flickr.com and upload the file to your flickr photostream.

(TIP:  If you have multiple files you may want to download, install and run the flickr uploader).

Create a set called export.

Place file FCP_EXP_V_1 inside.  Add a description underneath the screenshot if it needs more context.

Add tags to the screenshot.

Add additional sets and repeat this procedure

Create a collection for your sets.

Add the sets to your new collection

Tips
Remember tag liberally but wisely.  Use any description that makes sense and could be a probable search term.
