Use Drop Box for daily project back ups, mobile access and archiving 04/06/11
As a video editor, DropBox has become indispensable. Since almost every computer I’m working on is always connected to the Web, I try to save every file to The Cloud. This includes project files and stock media files.
At the end of the day do a Save As out of your NLE into DropBox. Make sure to append the file with the current date.
Keep small to medium sized frequently used files that you use often in Drop Box for convenient access. This is useful for editors that work on multiple computers.
Access your projects documents on the go. This is useful for providing support for clients and colleagues.
Tips:
You can even work on files in your Dropbox even if you’re offline! Your changes sync once your computer has an Internet connection again. And it’s important to also keep in mind that there are security considerations to be aware of when using Drop Box. They are addressed in The Dropbox Truecrypt Hack.
