Vickie Sampson 09/13/12
What can you learn from someone who’s worked almost 40 years as a Hollywood sound editor? As it turns out, everything.
In her fascinating LAFCPUG presentation, What You Need to Do to Make Your Sound Editor Love You, Vickie Sampson tells it like it is.
Both of her parents were sound editors – her mother was the first woman to receive a sound editing Oscar for her work in The River.
Over the decades, Vickie has been involved with perfecting the sound of many well known films such as Return of the Jedi, Donnie Darko, Speed, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Fighter.
Through it all, Vickie has been committed to sound literacy. As someone who was born in a trim bin, she loves giving advice and providing resources to her creative collaborators.
Check out her Sound Related Docs on Google Drive. There she has her LAFCPUG presentation, as well as Film to Sound Deliverables and the infamous An Open Letter from Your Sound Department.
Below is the full LAFCPUG presentation. It sure packs a lot of info into 35 minutes.

Great presentation. So of what she said is important in music recording as well. Thanks for sharing.
*So much* (obviously I have my mind on sound and not English)
Yeah, I wish I could have been there.
